On 15–16 June 2026, the members of our Church Committee led by Pastor Ingrid van Sittert, gathered in Pringle Bay together with Felix Meylahn, Sybrand van Sittert, Lynette and Hugo Filter, and Hans-Christoph Lange, for a fruitful Think Tank weekend. It was a weekend of prayer, Scripture, openly honest conversation and listening, as we sought to reflect and discern what it means to be church, and where God may be leading our congregation over the next few years. It was, above all, a weekend of hope.
Several common themes emerged throughout our discussions. We expressed a strong desire to be an open, welcoming and accessible congregation that intentionally reaches beyond our walls to serve and connect with the wider community. There was widespread excitement about a new initiative (still to be announced…) as an opportunity for hospitality, conversation, and outreach. We also shared a vision of building deeper relationships through growth in children’s ministry, house groups, family-friendly worship, and creating spaces where people of all ages feel at home.
Again and again, we were reminded that our mission is to follow Christ with courage and trust, allowing this deep listening to shape our priorities. We recognised the importance of sharing responsibilities, embracing change where needed, and making greater use of the gifts within our congregation.
The weekend ended with a deep sense of gratitude for our congregation, confidence in our leadership, and encouragement that God is leading us forward together. We look ahead with hope to a vibrant, growing faith community that is known for its openness, its service, and its witness to God’s grace.
